Where he ends up on the field might still be up in the air but where that field is located was never a question. Apopka TE/DE Trey Hendrickson made things official as he sent his NLI to FAU. Hendrickson caught the eyes of the Owls coaching staff as his team made a run through the postseason and ultimately took home a state title.
Hendrickson who is 6’4 and 222 pounds is still up in the air on where he will play for the Owls but the coaching staff is telling him that they envision him at DE after bulking up, but he is fine either way.
“I feel like I have an opportunity to play either [position] at FAU so that’s why I went there” Hendrickson said.
Hendrickson had interest from New Mexico, Western Kentucky, Idaho, Wofford, Furman and Wyoming. Missouri also made a late push for the big man but Hendrickson called the process with them “awkward” as they were only pursuing him because there number 1 and 2 Tightends had fallen through.
Trey is excited to play for the Owls with them being so close to home and his parents having the opportunity to watch games. He also looks forward to bringing the winning tradition of Apopka over to Boca Raton.
“You never lose the hunger for winning. I am going to go through my Freshman year pretty quiet and feel out the system. But Sophomore year I am definitely going to have a feel for the team and understand what’s going on and then put my best foot forward and lead this team”
