Sometimes you just know when things are right. For Pensacola Catholic OL Jace Banfell he knew that the next four years of his life would be spent in Boca Raton after just one day at FAU. The 6’3 280 lb Guard committed to Coach Pelini and the Owls on the 1st day of his official visit to FAU.
Despite a High School career that ended with his team playing in a Regional Final and with him picking up Florida Class 3A All-State First Team honors, Banfell only had a FAU offer on his table. Jace’s High School Head Coach Greg Seibert says that Jace fits the direction that FAU is headed.
“Coach Meadows did a great job at explaining to Jace what FAU had to offer and that Coach Pelini has the Owls headed in a very different direction.”
While Jace loved his visit, he didn’t exactly think that he would have at first. Coach Seibert says that Jace was a little worried early on due to the fact that Jace has “a lot of country boy in him”. Things worked out though because FAU OL Coach Luke Meadows has some “country boy” in him as well which helped him relate to Jace.
Coach Seibert says the Owls are getting “a hard worker, someone that recruiters refer to as a nasty offensive lineman, and a great teammate.”
Banfell is expected to play Guard or Center as an Owl.
