A little more of the intrigue has been taken out of February 6th's National Signing Day in Palm Beach County.
According to his father, Cardinal Newman TE Matt Burke has given a verbal commitment to Purdue just days after returning from an official visit to West Lafayette, Ind.
Interest in the 6-6, 215 lb. Burke took a meteoric rise after stellar 7-on-7 performances the past two summers, and then spiked again after his trip to the Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio earlier this month.
Burke had received heavy courtship from Boise State, San Diego State, and Harvard, receiving in-house visits from Boise and Harvard in the last few weeks.
In a run-first offense at Cardinal Newman, Burke still managed 29 catches for 353 yards and six touchdowns in his senior year, helping lead Newman to a 1-loss regular season.
