Recruiting notebook: Big day at Vero Beach, new interest for Marcus Davis & more

-New FIU head coach Ron Turner was at Vero Beach today to talk with offensive lineman Chris Flaig and kicker Karson Dietrich.

Flaig, who committed to FIU under previous head coach Mario Cristobal, was wavering on his commitment, but re-affirmed his pledge to play for the Panthers.

Dietrich plans on taking an official visit to FIU on February 1. Vero Beach head coach Lenny Jankowski said he'd heard FIU was planning on using a scholarship on a kicker this class, so Dietrich could be in the mix.

-South Carolina offered Vero Beach junior wide receiver Will Dawkins today. The Gamecocks also met with fellow junior receiver Javonte Bagley.

-Western Kentucky was on campus to meet with Vero Beach wide receiver Jamario Lambert. Jankowski said the school was working on setting up a visit, but no offer has been made yet.

-Princeton visited Vero Beach offensive line commit Connor Moore today.

-North Carolina State dropped by yesterday to check on Vero Beach cornerback commits Sean Paul and Dravious Wright.

-Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly stopped by American Heritage today to see running back commit Greg Bryant.

-Arkansas visited American Heritage athlete Marcus Davis today on campus.

-Auburn also visited Davis and verbally offered the senior. American Heritage assistant Brad Tremper says the schools is waiting on his academic transcript before officially offering.

-Village Academy quarterback Larry Brihm plans on visiting Bethune-Cookman this weekend. Head coach Don Hanna says Brihm is down to Bethune, Alabama State and Alcorn State. Brihm has taken visits to the other two schools.

-Village Academy running back Erich Maine will take a visit to Robert Morris this weekend.

-FIU and Bethune-Cookman visited Palm Beach Gardens wide receiver Frank Brown today. Brown tweeted that he'll probably visit FIU next weekend.
