Firm on his commitment for several months, American Heritage OL Rod Johnson put the finishing touches on his recruitment Wednesday, sending his Letter of Intent to Will Muschamp and Florida.
At 6-5, 315 lbs., Johnson's massive size made him a highly sought-after prospect who made an early decision to attend UF in March of last year. He briefly wavered on the Gators after assistant coach Aubrey Hill, who recruited Johnson, left Gainesville in August due to the Nevin Shapiro scandal. Johnson, however, re-committed several weeks later.
Johnson joined Glades Day RB Kelvin Taylor as Palm Beach County invitees to the Under Armor All-American game at Tropicana Field in early January.
With Florida trying to bolster what has been a ragged offensive line over the past few seasons, it's expected that Johnson will be groomed as a left tackle.
