FPC's Levy signs with Bowling Green

Feb 05, 2013 -- 5:08pm

By: Wells Dusenbury and Ken LaVicka

After a somewhat tumultuous recruiting process, Marcus Levy's recruitment ended on a high note, with the senior signing with Bowling Green.

Following a breakout season, in which he ran for 1382 yards and 18 touchdowns, Levy was a highly-sought after recruit over the summer. SEC programs like South Carolina,  Kentucky and Vanderbilt all offered the Cobras' tailback, but Levy ultimately decided to commit to Cincinnati.

A big part of Levy's decision was due to head coach Butch Jones and his offensive system, which was similar to system Levy played in at Ft. Pierce Central.

However, Jones would later leave in December to take the head coaching position at Tennessee. After the Bearcats hired Tommy Tuberville, who runs a completely different offensive scheme, Levy decided to decommit and pursue other options.

Since Levy completely shut down his recruitment after committing to Cincinnati, many of the schools who were once after him moved on.

Bowling Green was one of the few schools who stuck around though, and he rewarded their loyalty by signing with the program.
