On our Facebook page and in emails, people have been telling Evan that he's been too hard on the Marlins? After reviewing everything that they did and what Evan said, all the comments seem warranted. Also, there are claims now that the University of Miami may not be as clean as we have thought over the last few years.
Stephen Strasburg now appears to need Tommy John surgery, but Evan wonders what the proper way to handle young phenom pitchers is. Several teams have tried several different ways and it seemingly always ends with the youngster getting hurt. More financial details have come out about the way the Marlins do business and it just keeps getting worse. This team is clearly willing to lie, cheat, and steal to make a buck.
Evan admits that will be turning 30 this weekend, but he can't decide if that makes him old or not. His mentality is a mix between an 80 year ols man and a 12 year old girl. Also, Tiger seems to be back to his old ways. Does having the divorce behind him have anything to do with that? It does seem like now would be the time to move forward and put his game back together.
The Marlins financial numbers have some of the politicians in Dade county in an uproar. Oh yeah, and Evan too. How can politicians approve paying so much for a stadium without knowing how much money the team was making? The Marlins have done nothing illegal, but they certainly seem immoral. The show was also joined by former ESPN 760 host Pat Rooney Jr. who last night steamrolled in an election for District 83 in the state of Florida.
The Marlins' financial numbers were released and they have Evan absolutely furious. This team has made around 100 million dollars over the last 4 years while continually denying that they were making any money and having the lowest payroll in baseball. This entire franchise is ridiculous, but it's MLB's fault because they haven't stopped the Fish from cheating the system.
Live from downtown West Palm for the 2010 College Football Kickoff with Kirk Herbstreit, Evan is shocked that the Marlins couldn't get anything at all for a guy like Cody Ross. They just let him go for absolutely nothing when there was seemingly some demand for him before the trade deadline. Just another unbelievable move from the Florida Marlins.
Roger Clemens gets indicted and exactly nobody is shocked. Is there any chance at all that he's innocent? Nobody thinks that, but he defends himself with such vigor that it seems as if he believes that he's telling the truth. Andy Pettite's role is also pretty interesting. They were the best of friends, but it was his testimony that eventually led to the indictment. The show was also joined by ESPN College Football Analyst Kirk Herbstreit to talk about the PNC Bank 2010 College Football Kickoff that is happening in downtown West Palm this coming Monday. Evan also announces that ESPN 760 will be having a Thursday Night High School Football Game of the Week, which will be a game that fans can vote on each week!
Evan returns and it's perhaps the most emotional in the history of the program. Evan was gone because of the loss of his grandfather who also happened to be his best friend. His grandfather was his role model and his loss has affected Evan deeply. One thing he does know is that he will always try to be the type of man that his grandfather was.
JMP is in for Evan and as much as he hates it, the topic of the day is still Favre. JMP wonders if there is a bigger diva in sports than Brett Favre. People are killing Lebron but he doesn't think Lebron has done anything that Favre didn't do already and worse.
Despite swearing that he would not lead the show talking about Brett Favre, JMP spent the first half hour of the show talking about Favre. He also makes it very clear that he will be rooting for whatever team is playing the Vikings this season. A GQ article on Lebron James will be released soon in which James doesn't completely discount the possibility that he may play in Cleveland again. As a Heat fan does that bother you?
What are the Marlins gonna do next?
